What kind of bike rack should I but for my 2007 Honda Civic?
I recently purchased a 2007 Honda Civic, I also go biking a lot and use my bike rack for this. My old bike rack scratched up the car ( It was a Saris Bones model) What is the best type of bike rack that keeps my car in the best condition e.g. hitch or roof rack? Thanks in Advance!

- Thule hitch type. Or buy a po crap truck and throw a 2x6 with a 25 buck fork quick release hitch in the bed and don't worry about a thing.
- I have a 97 civic. I use a Thule trunk mount, and love it. Also I placed squares of 3M paint protection film over the edges where the hooks lay. Another tip is to clean the rack pads, and trunk before installing the rack.
- Honda Make Racks for You Car there is hitch mounted rack and the roof mounted rack. To save a bit of money I would be a non Honda hitch and Honda Hitch mounted Rack. You do not need a wire harness for a bike rack hitch( you should not be sold one by anyone one they are robbing you of your money. Enjoy you bike and car and do not use a cheap rack as you noted it going to ruin the paint and that will cost at resale time.
- My preference is a hitch rack, if you can get one for a Civic. With a roof rack, you have to lift the bike pretty high. Plus, there's a pretty high incidence of forgetting it's there and driving into a garage or other low-clearance spot. That really does a number on the bike and the car, not to mention the door or whatever you drove into.
