What do you think about dog car seat and dog carrier bags?
I'ver never seen these things til I got a dog.

- Don't get me going on purse puppies as I call them. Dogs unless they are disabled should walk! Even many disabled dogs have devices made so as they can walk. I do agree with devices to secure a dog in a car, but then again I just use a secured crate. No need for these special "designer" type things.
- Well, since I moved to North america a few months ago, I've seen dog push chairs (strollers), and dogs in bags, but I have not yet seen them in car seats. I personally am not part of it, but I believe there is definitely a market for dog car seats, and I think you could have yourself a money spinner in that one! Good luck!
- I believe in securing your dog in the car. It is dangerous to you and the dog if he isn't. I purchased a simple harness that I put on my Shetland Sheepdog and attach the harness ring to the seat belt (in the back seat).
- While I agree with Diane that dogs should walk, the pretty carrier bags they have out right now do serve a purpose. I have taken one of my mini Dachshunds into businesses that wouldn't have allowed it to be on a lead and walking but they didn't mind, or most of the time never even noticed my dog in the carry bag. Before they came out with the pretty ones, I just always used a tote bag for a purse and my Dachshund could be in it while I was shopping in some stores. In the car my dogs are always, and I do mean ALWAYS in a crate and bungee corded to the seat or secured in the back of the van.
- carriers I think are useful if your traveling or if your taking your dog somewhere where you cannot walk then in on a lead. Then they can come in handy. But if your just out and about with your dog in one I think it's much better to just walk them. I'm sure the dog would enjoy it more than being cooped up in something the size of a purse. As for car seats, I think those are a very good idea because they actually make your dog safer when riding in the car. If you get in a accident or have to make a sudden stop your dog won't go flying out of the seat like they would if they weren't strapped in. So I think the carseat's are a great idea and plan on getting one for my dog soon. Only thing is I wish there were more of them tall enough for small dogs to see out the window. Most of them sit right bellow the window, I've only seen a couple of them that are high enough.
- dog bags are dumb as well dog should walk they have 4 feet and if they all work then it should use them. a car seat or harness is a good idea...a dog can get hurt in an accident...or hurt u or someone else.
- I think dog car seats are good . They keep your dog ,especially if its a small one, securely in place. Small dogs like to move around in the car alot and this distraction could cause an accident. And if you were to get in an accident completely unrelated to your dog then a car seat would help to keep your dog safe.
- I think diane is right, If a dog can walk it defiantly should.. Ive seen some people put there dogs in those little bags, then complain about how there dogs always have so much energy and always gets into things.. dogs need to walk to burn off energy. However I understand that for people that take long walks, some smaller dogs cant keep up. or get tired after awhile, so having a bag of some sort to put them in for a rest would be nice for the dog. My dog is disabled, she has a hard time getting around, and can not walk on a leash, so when we take her anywhere we have to carry her. Ive tried a few bags, but have yet to find one that i like and she is comfortable in. so we mostly just end up carrying her.
- The original purpose of the dog carrier bags was to allow you to carry your small dog on airplanes as carry on baggage. The bag had to fit under the seat. The best way to travel on the road with your dog is to put your dog in an appropriately sized hard-sided plastic crate and bungee cord it to the vehicle. This way, if there is an accident, the dog will not get thrown out of the vehicle. Also, these type of crates are much more sturdy so your dog is not likely to escape from an accident and be lost; and just as important, he will not very likely get crushed in a sturdy crate. I have seen these type of crates survive some very bad accidents that totaled the cars, but the crates, with dogs inside, survived. For that reason, I do not recommend car seats, but I guess they are better than nothing. I also recommend the hard-sided crates over wire crates because I don't want to end up with shish-ka-bob-dog.
- Dogs are not and are never meant to be carried in a little juicy couture bag..and be pampered in it like a little spoiled pooch! (thats what is my opioin) Dogs need their freedom..and putting a little dog into a a bag won't give it to them! Dogs have legs..not only 2...they have 4! More than us...they should us them!
- A car seat, if it's what i'm thinking it is ... well my friend uses them so her dogs can see out of the windows.... other than that, they dont serve any purpose, for safety I would use a specially made harness in the car or a hard plastic crate. Dog carrying bags are ridiculous. Dogs can walk! I would hate to be cooped up in some bag, I'm sure most would rather stay at home than be carried in a bag, even if it means they get to go with you.
- Dog car seat - Fine. In fact I think they are a great idea. Dog Carrier Bags - ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Dogs come with legs for a reason, so unless people are taking their dog on an airplane, they can WALK. The doggy strollers are even more ridiculous.
- i have a booster seat for my chihuahuas, both get car sick when they cant see out of the window, the seat is however also a security device, the seat is safely buckeled into the car, the chis then have thier carharnesses on that are safely attatched to the seat. carriers are simply convinent for us...i have a chinese crested with endless energy and 2 chihuahuas who, while like to walk, just cant go all day like my cresti can, so on long walks i use a baby sling in which one or both the chis can fit if they tire before the walk ends... they do however know how to walk, do walk and walk very well on leash... the strollers are great for people with elderly pets or crippled pets and other helahty active pets, the pet that cant walk as far can still go out for the daily stroll without the owner having to carry it or worry about cutting the more active dogs walk short...
