What is the best hitch mounted bike rack for 4 bikes? I want to get a bike rack for my husband for Father's day. We need a hitch mounted rack that can accomodate 4 bikes. Swing away would be great. I appreciate any help/opinions.

Bike Racks: I have a Drawtite brand hitch on the back of my Jeep. Do I need a Drawtite brand bike rack too??? When a buddy of mine installed it, he made it sound like it was pretty unique, and therefore I cant tell why it is?? Hitch rack for bicycle? Hi, I am trying to decide whether to go with Thule Roadway or Yakima Double Down. I like the Anti Sway feature on Yakima, but does it really work? And I heard people said Yakima wobbles a lot when use with 2 inch hitch and lean outwards. And anyone knows if the difference between a 4 bike rack and 5 bike rack is just the length of the bars? Someone in REI board suggested to buy a 5 bike rack to carry 4 bikes, can I adjust the distance between cradles?

Can you suggest a bike rack for a car? I am looking for a dependable bike rack for my car. I am leery of the trunk mount bike racks (it looks like they would fall off if you hit a bump). That pretty much leaves roof mount or hitch mount rigs. My car is a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe. I will be transporting one bike that has quick release hubs both front and back. I am not looking to spends several hundred dollars, but I understand what I get is what I pay for so I'm not about to spend $50 down at wal-mart only to cause a 30 car pile up on the highway when the POS falls off. Do you need a special part for hitching you bike on a bus? I ride a bmx bike and i wanna know if you need any special things to hitch your bike on the bike rack on the bus, or do u just swing the rack down and place ur bike on top of it or what?

Bike rack for a 2002 CRV, help? I have a 2002 CRV and need a way to carry my bicycle on an upcoming cross-country trip. I need to be able to access the trunk space so I don't think I can go with a hitch rack. I have a spare tire, however I can't say I have the utmost confidence in one of those systems keeping my darling bike safe at freeway speeds. I've been interested in using a roof rack, however, I'm not so sure how well that system will work for me in the long term. I'm only 5'6", so I couldn't see getting a bike on the roof being very easy even during the best of times (not to mention when I'm exhausted after a long ride.) Another concern of mine is trying to keep my bike out of the hands of a stranger who may want to "borrow" it when I'm not looking. I thought about the roof rack for this reason; it may not be a robber-proof system but at least it'll make it harder for someone to get the bike down, and thus hopefully make my bike a less attractive target. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Should I install the Wiring Harness for a Hitch if it requires Splicing? I recently had a hitch intstalled on my car for my bike rack. However, I'm having a tough time deciding if I want to install the wiring harness for trailer lights, just in case I ever decide to tow anything. I will primarily use the hitch for the bike rack. But, it's not inconceivable that I may be inclined to tow a small trailer occasionally if I had the wiring harness. However, my car does not have the connector that you can use to plug the harness into. So, it would require splicing directly into my car's wiring. Since the car is still under warranty, I don't like the sound of that very much. I don't want someone messing with the electical system if they could accidently mess it up somehow.

How do you get a reciever hitch off of a truck that has been on there for a while.? I bought a truck with a reciver hitch that the person I bought the truck off of left the hitch in the reciever 24/7. I would like to remove the the hitch so I can put a bike rack attachment in there but can not remove the hitch from the reciever. I tried to spray WD-40 all around but I cannot get it to slide out of the reciever. I put a tow strap around the hitch and a tree. The hitch did not budge. Any ideas?

Bike rack for Alero.? My boyfriend and I just bought some mountain bikes; well mine's a hybrid. When we were at the store last night getting his we told the salesperson we needed a bike rack. He looked up my car info., 2000 Olds Alero, and told us that since Aleros have plastic bumper they cannot hold the weight of the rack. Now this was at an actual bike shop, I know if I go to a place like Dick's Sporting Goods I can buy a rack no problem. Has anyone had this experience or put a rack on a car that is not supposed to have one? I appreciate the salesperson's honesty and he told me I could have a hitch welded onto my car and get a rack that way. A roof rack won't work w/my car either appartently (plus they are more expensive than my bike).

Ok to mount a bike carrier to the back of a fifth wheel camper or are they not designed for that? We recently bought a fifth wheel camper and want to take our bikes along. Someone told us that the bike racks that slide into a 2" hitch are not designed for the bouncing that occurs on the back of a camper. Is this true? Actually how safe and secure these "Trunk Racks" really are? The mount just "clips with the trunk". Are they reliable or can cause a serious multi-car accident in the Highway, from fall off? What about the Bike and Vehicle paint? Is it safe for the paint? Have you used it (Trunk Rack) without any fall off incident? I do not have Hitch Receiver. So the other Option will left is "Roof Rack". I am 5'7", how difficult would it be to load/unload the bike from SUV roof?

Is it possible to stick a bike (mountain or road) in the back of a Jeep Wrangler with the seat taken out? I was thinking about purchasing a new Wrangler, but was unsure about how bike friendly the vehicle is. At this point, I'm not wanting to invest neither the money nor the hassle in getting a hitch-mount or tire-mount rack. To me, the back appears large enough to throw a bike in, but I am not completely sure. Any advice? Also, does anybody have any advice on the reliabliy of an '06 Wrangler Sport (or SE)?

How can I transport my Moped with my car? I'm trying to do this without spending lots of money. I have a 98 honda civic. The obvious (and expensive) answers are to get a hitch mount installed (like $150 or more) and buy a real motorcycle carrier thing (probably like $150 or more, I don't know) OR get the hitch mount and a trailer (probably like $300 or $400). My idea is to get a roof-mount bike rack, and just strap it down like a normal bike. I figure that a back mount bike rack wouldn't be strong enough to hold the weight. Do you think that would work? what is the difference between vertical and horizontal hitches? my father has a 2005 honda goldwing GL1800. me and my mom want to get him a hitch for it for fathers day. him and i take long trips on it in the summer and he has mentioned how he wants to get a cooler rack that slips into the hitch. there are two different types of hitches that they sell online, vertical and horizontal. what is the difference? also, if they are both capable of being put on his bike then which one would be the best kind to carry varing loads so we can pull a cargo trailer if needed also.

Hidden tow hitch for "03 Mustang? I'm an avid cyclist and my pos trunk rack isn't cutting it anymore. I love my mustang and I'd hate to have to have a roof rack system installed, but on the other hand I want a save and secure way to haul my bike around. Another alternative is to use the tow bar that is alredy on the car and use a hitch rack. I was wondering if there was any kind of adapter that would allow me to use the hitch without cutting a hole in the bumper? I woudl really like to keep the mustang, not only because I love it but because it was reacently paid off. Any ideas or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

What do you call a trailer to put behind your SUV....? that isn't really a trailer? I am trying to figure out what this is called. Let me explain. it attaches to your hitch in the back of the car, but it is not a trailer you pull behind the car. It is mor of a shallow platform that you set stuff on, kind of like a bike rack, only it is for additional luggage and things. Any ideas? I am going on vacation (in 2 weeks) and I am trying o figure out what you call this so I can find one and rent one. Thank you!!
