Is it capable to remove a bicycle rack from a 1997 VW Jetta? I recently bought a 1997 VW Jetta. I love love love the car but it has a bicycle rack on top which I don't really like but I can certainly deal with it. Anyone know if I can get the rack taken off properly without damages the car?

Are there any violations for parking a motorcycle in a lined area near a bicycle rack? Is it a fire lane? on april 16th my harley was parked in lined area near kids bike rack, I was home when apartment manager reqested it towed without warning. It's a wonderful bike in great shape, but by the time I add racks, fenders, and other accessories, that puts the price in used car territory. What's the best commuter bicycle under $500 that I could still take out on weekends for long rides (20 mi.+)? I'm looking for a complete, multi-speed bicycle. Price has to include fenders, and this bike needs to be be able to take a bit of a beating at the bike racks and jumping off curbs, but still be comfortable and versatile enough to hit the pavement for a 20-25 mile ride on the weekend. At 27 my body's already getting more picky about the sports I play, and I want a bike that will introduce me to the sport of cycling, while also getting me back and forth from school. What is a good, cheap stone that is fairly flat? I am doing an Eagle scout progect for a food pantry and they are looking to put a bicycle rack in behind an already-in-place, mulched, un-asthetic, bare area. How do you feel about taking bicycle riders bringing their bikes into the office building? I am being unreasonable? For the past 10 years I rode my bike to work 5-10 times a year, took it up the elevator and kept it in my office. Nobody ever complained. Last May I was leaving the building with my bike and I ran into one of the building owners who went off on me about the bike. The next workday I got a call from the building manager telling me bikes are not allowed in the building. There us a bike rack outside the building, but it's next to a major avenue and I don't think my bike will be safe there. My ride is about 20 miles each way so I ride a pretty nice ($$$) bike so bike safety is high on my list. It has been a year since this happened and I'm still fuming about it I can't believe that in this era of high fuel prices, unstable oil suppliers, and carbon buildup, people can be so backwards. Bringing a bike into the building doesn't cause any damage or unusual wear, so this seems arbitrary and idiotic to me. Am I out of line? Do you think this rule makes sense?

What's the best way to carry stuff on a bicycle in a 100 mile ride? I have considered using my rack and rack bag, but it seems a little heavy. In the past I carried a fanny pack. Now I'm considering a handle bar bag. I like to have a wind shirt to wear in the cool morning, and carry it later. I also carry snacks, a few tools, spare tube and a first aid kit.
